Organisation and logistics for an international CBRN defence exercise in Antalya, 3–12 November 2021: 660 personnel from 16 countries, accommodation and transfers, custom reservation software, briefing technology, Industry Day and site services.
NATO Toxic Trip 2021 was an international chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defence exercise hosted by Türkiye in Antalya from 3 to 12 November 2021. The Turkish Air Force entrusted our company with the organisational and logistics tasks in planning and running the exercise: accommodation, transfers, a dedicated reservation system, technical and meeting operations, the Industry Day, catering, site services and coordination with emergency services.
The exercise and its international scope
The exercise aimed to improve interoperability between the air forces and the medical and CBRN defence elements of NATO and Partnership for Peace nations, and to strengthen military cooperation. 660 personnel from 16 countries took part in the exercise; including host-nation and support teams, a total of around 1,100 people were on duty in the exercise area. Representatives of the NATO CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence served in the exercise, alongside elements of the Turkish Land Forces, Naval Forces and Air Force and participants from Germany, Belgium, the United States, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, France, South Korea, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Qatar, Romania and Serbia.
The military and technical objectives of the exercise were set and carried out by the participating forces. Our role covered the commercial organisation and logistics services described below.
Accommodation and delegation management
- Accommodation coordination for the delegations of the participating nations.
- Hotel and booking processes throughout the exercise.
- Planning of transfers between the hotels and the exercise area.
Custom reservation system
For the participating nations we developed dedicated software that carried the reservation infrastructure of the whole exercise. Bookings for different delegations and participants, each with their own requirements, were managed centrally in one system rather than through separate channels.
Technical and meeting operations
- LED screens and sound systems in the briefing hangar.
- Operational support for the IPC Meeting.
- Coordination of meeting and briefing environments, from technical preparation to delivery.
Industry Day and site services
- Stand designs for the Industry Day, communication with participating companies and coordination of their services on site.
- Catering and cleaning services in the exercise area.
- External logistics services.
Multi-stakeholder coordination
All these service lines ran within a single operations plan, in step with the exercise schedule. We also provided operational coordination with the 112 Emergency Services and the field hospital; medical services themselves were delivered by the relevant health units.
Outcome
NATO Toxic Trip 2021 is a key reference for our team: comprehensive MICE services, technical infrastructure, accommodation and site logistics delivered within an international military exercise, where a fixed schedule and multinational participation shaped every service.
